Angela Williams, Pharm D
Medical Center Director
Dr. Angela D. Williams serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Salt Lake City VA Health Care System. In this role, she provides executive leadership and strategic direction for a complex integrated healthcare system that delivers comprehensive clinical services to nearly 70,000 Veterans across 8 sites of care and 27 counties spanning Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. Dr. Williams oversees a $1.06 billion operating budget and leads a workforce of over 3,200 employees.
Appointed as Executive Director in March 2022, Dr. Williams previously served as the Associate Director of Operations at the same facility. Her extensive career in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) includes leadership roles such as Acting Medical Center Director at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC; Pharmacy Director; Acting Associate Director of Finance; Interim Chief of Environmental Management Service; and Interim Chief of Human Resources. Her diverse experience reflect her strong capabilities in driving organizational change and fostering professional collaboration.
Dr. Williams holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida, a Master of Healthcare Operations from the University of Nebraska, A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Creighton University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Occidental College. She has served as clinical faculty for the University of Nebraska School of Pharmacy.
A committed leader in healthcare and public service, Dr. Williams has completed the Senior Executive Service (SES) Assessment Program, the Excellence in Government Public Partnership Fellowship, and is a graduate of the VHA Healthcare Leadership Development Program (HCLDP). She is also a VHA Certified Mentor and Coach and an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Rooted in a legacy of service—her father a Vietnam Veteran—Dr. Williams has devoted her career to honoring that tradition. She is actively engaged in community service through her membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Incorporated, where she is a Silver Star, legacy, life member, and Charter member of Psi Chi Omega Chapter in Lincoln, Nebraska. She has held numerous leadership roles within the sorority at local, regional, and international levels.
Dr. Williams is a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is married and the proud mother of two adult sons.
