$200k for Behavioral Intervention Trials in Aging

The Northwell Roybal Center for Personalized Trials has issued a Call for Proposals for Randomized Clinical Trials on Behavioral Interventions in Aging, offering $200,000 in total costs (direct + indirect) for a 12-18 month project. Awards are made through the 2026–2027 Roybal National Competition, supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA Award #P30AG063786).

Focus area: Walking interventions for individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia

What proposals must include:

• A fully powered randomized clinical trial (pilot and feasibility studies are not eligible)

• Clear application of the NIH Stage Model, with articulated progression through stages

• A target of walking behavior in individuals with MCI or dementia

• Adequate statistical power to test mechanisms of behavior change and/or efficacy

• Grounding in an established behavior change theory

• A budget within the $200,000 total-cost cap

Key dates:

• LOI due Oct. 1, 2026

• LOI decisions Oct. 23

• Full applications (if selected) due Dec. 7

• Funding decisions Feb. 15, 2027

• P30 Center submits to NIA mid-March 2027
